Gestalt is the German word for “whole.” Gestalt therapy is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes personal responsibility, that focuses upon the individual’s experience in the moment (while in the session), exploring the clients environment and social contexts of a client’s life, as well as the self-regulating adjustments that each client made as a result of their life situation(s). Gestalt therapy was developed by Fritz Perls in the 1940s and 1950s.
I work with each of my clients as a whole being (mind, body and soul) using a self-directed, in-the-moment approach to psychotherapy. I support my clients through guided dialogue, observation, and intuition to help them become aware of their negative patterns of behavior. Through this process, clients discover how those negative behaviors keep them stuck from moving forward in their lives. The best client/therapist relationship are the most effective when the client is willing to do their personal work. It is life changing!
